MinRPG is a fast-paced storytelling RPG that focuses on contested rolls between the DM and the players using different "approaches" to solving conflicts and overcoming obstacles.
MinRPG was created for the Pleasure-not-Business Card RPG Jam
For those with screen-readers, the rules are as follows:
Players roll 1d6-3 for their character's approach scores. Players roll 2d6 and add the appropriate approach score against the narrator's 2d6 roll to overcome obstacles. If the player wins, they have a breakthrough and if not, they get a setback. The approaches are:
| FIERCE | Crush, crash, bash, beat |
| FLASHY | Perform, persuade, deceive |
| CLEVER | Recall, deduce, investigate |
| CAREFUL | Sneak, aim, finesse |

Thank you! I wanted to try my hand at making the most out of a single mechanic and I think that worked out well. Also the DM gets to enjoy rolling dice as well, and doesn't have to worry about crafting balanced obstacles. I think it will work best for one-shots and already have some ideas for other approach titles. (Grit, Moxie, Gumption, and Knack for a western theme, for example!)
